Artists in Residence third project for May

Usually, when I think of make a card, rubber stamp is my starting point.  However this time, I  chose to make a simple father's card using Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko products with NO STAMP!

SUPPLIES

  • IMAGINE Crafts® PHOTO Elements™
  • IMAGINE Crafts® GooseBumps™ Texture Spray
  • IMAGINE Crafts® Fireworks!™ Craft Spray - RICH COCOA
  • Print paper - Hero Arts
  • Die Cut alphabet (can't find the source - sorry)

HOW TO:

trim PHOTO ELEMENT, spray FIREWORKS_RICH COCOA, let dry

layout, adhere to printed paper then spread GOOSE BUMPS with fingers

spray FIREWORKS - RICH COCOA to die cut letters, let dry

adhere to background, then folded card

Goosebumps give shine and little texture to the background. I like glossy finish for a very simple card like this.

Artists in Residence May project vol.2 MEMENTO LUXE + TACK N' PEEL mono printing

Second project for this month is "Self Portrait"

In the meantime, I wanted to try "mono print" style art - so here I made a little card。

Supplies

  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento Luxe™ Mixed Media Pigment Ink - Dandelion/Love Letter/Bahama Blue/Northern Pine
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink Marker - Tuxedo Black/RHUBARB STALK/BAHAMA BLUE
  • IMAGINE Crafts® Multi-Purpose Squeegee™
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Tack ‘N Peel™ Reusable Cling Sheet
    Brayer - optional

    HOW TO:
DTP MEMENTO LUXE - DANDELION onto TACK N' PEEL (attached on acrylic block)

cover whole surface generously. brayer can be used for spreading ink evenly.

put cardstock on the surface, press evenly with hand or brayer

first print

add MEMENTO LUXE - LOVE LETTER to TACK N' PEEL surface

make wave lines with SQUEEZEE

bring back the card paper, press

second print

add MEMENTO LUXE - BAHAMA BLUE with stencil brush

set Magenta stencil, then put the card stock

third print - my background is done!

stamp (Impression Obsession) egg and carrots with MEMENTO LUXE - NORTHERN PINE

color with MEMENTO MARKERS, cut out

draw face, cut skirt from fabric remnant, assemble "me"

write journal with MEMENTO MARKER - TUXEDO BLACK, add shades with MEMENTO LUXE - BAHAMA BLUE with stencil brush

this is the other version. background was made from same ink application left on the  TACK N ' PEEL.

I found MEMENTO LUXE won't damage TACK N' PEEL.  To clean, just rinse under running water then air dry. (do not use paper towel - it will stick to TACK N' PEEL)

This technique is forgiving and additive.  I hope you like it too.

Artists In Residence for May vol.1

Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko announced brand new ink Memento LUXE at last CHA, and the shipment is about to start.

So, our project is using MEMENTO LUXE.  OK, what is MEMENTO LUXE?
It is a mixed media ink which can be used on fabric, wood, leather, and of course on paper.
It will be washable after heat set on fabric - so you can make your own mixed media art paint on t-shirts, bags, shoes, you name it.

Ink is water based pigment ink, so easy to handle, easy to clean.  Actually it won't stain your clear stamps.

Actually I did used this ink once - March project tote bag - so, this time I tried on my little wooden bird house.

Supplies

  • Wooden Bird House
  • MAGENTA stencil
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Daubers™
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento Luxe™ Mixed Media Pigment Ink
                    Wedding Dress/Bahama Blue/Love Letter

  • IMAGINE Crafts® Multi-Purpose Squeegee™

    How to:

    1. apply Memento Luxe-Wedding Dress (white) on the birdhouse directly.
    2. apply Memento Luxe-Bahama Blue on the edge of top roof. Blend into white color

    3. apply Memento Luxe-Love Letter on the edge of lower roof. Blend into white color.

  • 4. stencil swirls with sponge dauber.

done!

Try Memento LUXE on your wood pieces, you'll love them :)

Japan hobby show

I've just returned from Tokyo where I did demo for Tsukineko Japan.
It's huge show, all three days packed by visitors more than 100,000.

I'm awaiting Amtrak for SanDiego right now surrounded by Subway, Starbucks and Wintzels with yummy smells!
Which should I have? :)

AIR - Canvas Coaster

My last project for this month is  Canvas Coaster.
It is fabric project but no sewing involved.  Easy and inexpensive, fun and usable.

Finished coaster

Cut natural canvas fabric 4"x 4", remove about 10 strand from edges.
Wish washi tape, mask edges

Color background with VersaCraft inks.  First color is KIWI

Add Pale Aqua

Add Celadon
Stamp Flower (Penny Black) With VersaCraft Cool Gray - hard to see on the screen - sorry!
Pale color is used on purpose!!

Color in flower patals with All Purpose Ink Tangerine. Fantastix is great for painting fabric with API.

Patals are done

Trace outlline with Fabrico Marker - Black

and Vines and Leaves with Fabrico Marker Forest

Add All Purpose Ink - Platinum to flower center.

DTP VersaCraft - White to soften the image.

Define petal center again.

When all inks are dried, heat set with iron.

Since I made a tote bag from canvas fabric last month, I have good amount of remnants with me.  I should use them, LOL.

All Purpose Ink, Fabrico Markers, VersaCrafts are great fabric (and other) ink. Heat set make it permanent.

It's great kids projects too. You can stamp, draw, doodle, or just colors, make a little gift, or, make it rectangle shape for tags.

Hope you enjoy!

AIR - [SPRING]ss

Another assignment for April is [SPRING}.
For this project, I decided to use Goosebumps (texture spray) and Fireworks mist in spring color.

Apply Goosebumps (dauber cap bottle) to my stamp (Penny Black) directly

Goosebumps is beading up, but that's OK.  Stamp on white cardstock, let it dry (say about a few menutes)

Spray Fireworks - Angel Pink

Keep on spray Fireworks - Summer Sky and Lulue Lavender

Spray same 3 colors of Fireoworks to the stamp randomly.
Put the cardstock on the stamp (because the stamp is too wet) transfer image.

Let it dry

On separate white card stock, stamp MIMI (Penny Black) with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Color with copics.  I used R00/E02/R02 for skin, R32/BV31/B63 for wings and clothes, E50/E21 for hair

Cut out

Finished card (5 1/2 x 5 1/2)
Assemble card base, panel and background panel, then adhere MIMI with pop dots, adhere lace trim.
